Integration Testing - First Scenario

Integration Testing, man at last we finished our first scenario. That's really long way we came here, but we have a long way to go; some 600 scenarios to go. Why we take 2 months to complete 1st Integration Testing scenario? This question is very basic question to understand the problem of integration testing. Being working on 3 projects: Integration testing, SAP CML and SAP BI, in this post i am trying to understand why we take 2 months to finished one Integration testing scenario. Here are following dimensions which i think are common problems with Integration testing.

  1. Resources: I thing resources is the major problem or opportunity we are facing. Resources include human and machines. It takes some 15 days to figure out who will be in Integration testing and who will not. We have to manage people so that their projects, don't suffer by Integration testing. We reshuffle people so many time to get final list of team members who are in Integration testing project. That a real challenge. Then laptops, that's was not so challenging, it takes some 3 days.
  2. Where: I mean place to do Integration testing. This is also major dimension of Integration testing, which push us back. Its take some 17 days to make finial place for Integration testing, but still "that final place" is not final, we move 2 times. Moving with whole team members it sucks. We are some 11/12 team members in this project, and moving with our machine is really painful. Moving is killing Integration testing.
  3. Integrating Project in Quality Center: This one is also painful. We have some 10 projects to Integrate in quality center. What kind of Test cases are in and what are out is a very big challenge. But till today i happy that we at last we finally Integrate all 10 projects under one Integration testing project in Quality Center.
  4. Defects: defects are not major challenges, but they are one of the "Moving" factor of projects. We, at the end ,able to figure out what kind of defects are in Integration testing projects. We take mostly very high and high defects in project. We have new DRB(Defect Review Board) to look into old and new defects.
  5. Time: How much time team members work on Integration testing. We have few team members who are working with others project. Like me i am working on 3 projects including Integration testing, SAP CML and SAP BI. And we have few members who are 100% working with Integration testing. So we divide time as before lunch all Integration testing member work on Integration testing, and then after lunch those working on others projects they worked on their project. So i am working 50% with Integration testing and rest 50% i am managing with SAP CML and SAP BI
May be i am missing some thing, but i think these are those dimensions i feel that which make us to take some 2 months to complete our first Integration testing scenario. I don't think, now testing some 600 Integration testing scenarios take a long time, because our all 10 projects are integrated in to one projects, team is sitting together, resources are well settled and ifs/buts place is still my major concern.....
